A basic anaylsis on codes and conventions for thrillers

The conventions of the thriller genre are to do with sound and editing. eg quick cuts and camera angle changes, music that gives tension and is passy when appropriate. It can be to do with lighting, especially the use of shadow. Mirrors and stairs are also conventions of thriller movies.phonebooth in particular is a thriller that does not play to the conventions, it avoids darkness and shadow etc. The one way to link it to standard conventions is to say that you hear and see the story from the killers point of view, you are made to feel sorry for the male protagonist and that you are told a story with the use of flashback and quick passed editing. otherwise the this film is unlike most thriller movies and avoids the main conventions and may even not be classed as thriller but psychological thriller as it plays with ur mind rather than shows you like a conventional thriller.

Ideas for film sequence

These are the following ideas which we came up with for our production

Idea 1- Two friends who are on a mission to kill a unknown target. They don't know they are asigned to kill eachother.

Idea 2- A man trying to escape from a hostage situation who eventually escapes but ends up coming face to face with one of the terrorists.......will he be shot or freed?

Idea 3- A girl who is after a guy who looks exactly like her fiance , but the twist is that this girl has had a rebirth and she is living her life again. The guy has the same face as her fiance but its not him he is someone else but she believes its him and is determined to win him from his girlfriend......
